Below is a list of possible classes that are offered to Installer/Technicians at this time.

Note: You will need to contact info@norcal-jatc.com to obtain a password in order to register for classes.

Adult First AID/CPR/AED (4 Continuing Education Hours, 2 Online, 2 In-Class)

Become American Red Cross certified in First Aid, CPR and AED for the Adult. This course is also considered a safety course that can account for VDV and Fire/Life Safety re-certification.

Introduction To DAS (2 Online Continuing Education Hours)

This 2-hour online course is a non-brand-specific introduction to Distributed Antenna Systems. This course was developed to promote an understanding of the importance of these systems, how they are designed and how they work. This course counts for the State of California, Voice Data Video and Fire/Life Safety Certification renewal.

Fiber Optic Blended Learning Track (Up To 32 Continuing Education Hours)

This is a blended learning track designed to prepare participants for the CFOT (certified fiber optic technician) exam offered by the FOA (Fiber Optic Association). The track is a combination of online learning courses and hands-on classroom sessions. Due to the quantity and complexity of the content, it is divided into four online courses. After the student has completed the online courses, they then qualify to attend the hands-on classroom sessions followed by the CFOT exam. This course counts for the State of California, Voice Data Video and Fire/Life Safety Certification renewal.

Financial Tools For The Trades (Online)

The NorCal S&C JATC has partnered with the International Foundation Of Employee Benefit Plans to offer a fundamental education in managing and maintaining finances. The State of California has not approved this class for continuing education for Certification renewal.

Fire Alarm Systems (18 In-Class Continuing Education Hours)

This course is designed for members who want to learn about Fire Alarm systems and for those who need to refresh their knowledge and skills. This course includes the study of basic fire alarm systems including; fundamentals, system requirements, initiating devices, notification appliances, wiring methods, system interfaces, and safety control functions. A hands-on laboratory will allow the student to build a fire alarm system to apply what they've learned. This course applies 18 hours to the 32 hours needed for Fire/Life Safety re-certification.

Harassment Prevention: Awareness & Responsibilities (Online)

The Civil Rights Department provides free online training courses on preventing sexual harassment and abusive conduct in the workplace that satisfy California’s legal training requirements pursuant to Government Code section 12950.1.

The State of California has not approved this class for continuing education for Certification renewal.

 

Master Clocks (2.5 Online Continuing Education Hours)

Master Clock Systems are used in offices, factories, and schools to provide reliable time throughout the facility by syncing the secondary clocks to one master clock. Master clocks can provide bell schedules, activate relays, operate wired and wireless clocks. Learn how clocks evolved over time and what is possible today during this 2.5-hour online course. This course counts for the State of California, Voice Data Video Certification renewal.

Meters & Relays (9 In-Class Continuing Education Hours)

An in-depth focus on relays and the proper use/application of Multi-Meters. Students receive basic Ohm's law essentials along with the skills necessary to properly obtain Multi-Meter readings. Participants will complete a lab build using relay interfaces to control equipment common to our industry. This course counts for the State of California, Voice Data Video and Fire/Life Safety Certification renewal.

NFPA 70 (NEC) Essentials (6 In-Class Continuing Education Hours)

This course covers the NFPA 70 code basics for the Sound & Communication electrical worker. This course benefits anyone planning to take the state certification exams or who would like to improve their code knowledge. This course applies 6 hours to the 32 hours needed for VDV or Fire/Life Safety re-certification.

NFPA 72 Essentials (6 In-Class Continuing Education Hours)

This course covers the NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code basics for the Sound & Communication electrical worker. This course benefits anyone planning to take the state certification exams or who would like to improve their code knowledge. This course applies 6 hours to the 32 hours needed for the Fire/Life Safety re-certification.

OSHA-10 (10 Online Continuing Education Hours)

Become OSHA-10 certified. This online course includes the study of safety on the job site including: electrical, PPE, ladders and stairways, fall protection, hand and power tools, scaffolds and confined spaces. This course counts for the State of California, Voice Data Video and Fire/Life Safety Certification renewal.

OSHA-30 (30 Online Continuing Education Hours)

This online course contains many of the same topics as the OSHA 10 course but at a more in-depth level. In addition this course also includes: material handling and storage; cranes, derricks, hoists, elevators and conveyors; excavations; fire protection; health hazards in construction. This course counts for the State of California, Voice Data Video and Fire/Life Safety Certification renewal.

Paging (6 Online Continuing Education Hours)

Paging Systems are used in schools, hospitals, auditoriums, stadiums, office buildings and more. By installing speakers throughout the facility, utilizing a constant voltage system, you can transmit quality audio at equal levels from each speaker location. Learn how constant voltage paging systems work and how IP systems are starting to flourish during this 6-hour online course.

Subjects of this course include – constant voltage theory, transformers, amplifiers, speaker operation, phase, impedance, impedance bridge meter, terminology, attenuators, source components, self-amplified speakers, VoIP paging, sound masking and ceiling speaker installation. This course counts for the State of California, Voice Data Video Certification renewal.
